Since REACH began we have awarded more than $1 million in classroom grants to NYC schools to support Advanced Placement teachers and students. Below are examples of how REACH classroom grants have enriched the academic experiences of students.
- Aquinas High School hosted the American Globe Theater for an in-school performance of Macbeth, which students were studying in AP English Literature.
- St. Catharine Academy purchased a Smart Response System for two classrooms. Smart Response allows students to use “clickers” to answer questions simultaneously, providing immediate feedback to teachers about content mastery.
- DeWitt Clinton High School students studying “The Importance of Being Earnest” attended a Broadway performance of the play.
- Grover Cleveland purchased graphing calculators for Calculus AB students.
- Newcomers High School used their classroom grant to subsidize an academic trip to Washington, DC for the AP US Government class.
Praise for REACH
“Thank you for your commitment to encourage and support my students to succeed on the AP Physics B exam. The financial incentive for passing the exam, professional development for teachers, weekend review programs for students and excellent review materials from your organization have helped my students’ results substantially…My students will not only pick up the underlying physics faster and understand concepts better, but will be intrigued to pursue more…”
