Learn, Earn, Win! Attendance Policy
- In order to be eligible for REACH Scholars Awards of $300, $400 or $500, for each qualifying AP exam in LEW subjects, students MUST attend ALL three full day workshops.
* RELEGATION SCHOOLS - students MUST attend LEW in order to qualify for awards*
*WAITLIST SCHOOLS – students DO NOT qualify for awards*
- Absences will ONLY be excused for the following reasons:
- Religious observance
- SAT (not SAT Prep courses)
- Pre-scheduled, pre-paid trips (For example: college visits, school excursions)
- Attendance waivers must be requested by January 30, 2010. NO exceptions.
- Send an email to REACH@nycup.org requesting attendance waiver form.
- Complete and submit form by January 30, 2010.
- Confirmation of attendance waiver decision will be emailed to student.
- Make-up requirements will only be provided to students with APPROVED attendance waivers.
Other Major Penalties
A student may jeopardize the potential value of his/her REACH Scholar Award:
- Lost or forgotten REACH ID = $20
- Late to LEW = $20
- Students must be present by 9:00am in order to receive full attendance credit. In addition, students will NOT receive full attendance credit if they choose to leave early.
- Failure to bring LEW textbook and other materials = $20
- Truancy or Misrepresentation = SUMMARY DISQUALIFICATION
- Any student involved in forgery of IDs and/or misrepresentation of a registered student, will result in IMMEDIATE disqualification from the REACH Program.
- DO NOT allow another student to use ID
- DO NOT use or present another student’s ID
REACH will subtract penalties from any REACH Scholar Award that a student may earn
