Mission of REACH: Rewarding Achievement
To help high-achieving, low-income students from high minority communities succeed academically in high school, go to good colleges, and earn four-year college degrees.
Mission Fulfillment
To fulfill its mission, REACH created a scale program offering incentive scholarships to thousands of high school students, at 31 inner-city high schools in NYC, if they earn passing scores on AP exams – and supporting those students by providing academic and professional enrichment training to excel.
REACH Goals
- Achieve measureable outcomes and develop scalable solutions to expand academic rigor at inner-city high schools.
- Help thousands of low-income, minority students gain access to challenging, college preparatory coursework while attending inner-city high schools – and encourage their success on a path toward college (the vast majority of these students do not otherwise have such access/encouragement).
- Support dynamism and innovation in inner-city high schools that serve high-poverty communities and are focused on high academic achievement to change their students’ outcomes.
- Set high expectations of students and schools.
